Weekly Roundup – July 22, 2016…Everything’s Changing

Weekly Roundup filled with some of the best articles on dividend growth investing, stock analyses, personal finance and financial independence from the past week.
Happy Weekend!  Check out what’s been going on in my world and some of the best articles from around the blogosphere.

It’s hard to believe that in just less than 12 hours our little girl will be 2 weeks old.  She really is amazing and in just her couple weeks here she’s already changed so much.  We went to the pediatrician this past Thursday and as he was checking her out he was surprised that she was keeping eye contact and tracking him as he moved.  He said you don’t see that too much with babies that young.

Of course not all change has been for the better.  She graced us with moving her really fussy times to the evenings for about a week and then all of a sudden decided that 2 a.m. was her favorite party time again.  So we’ve been dealing with that the past few days.

Also, as much as I love her I think she’s out to destroy us.  Let me explain.  So early this week we were getting a new roof put on our house.  It was very loud, but guess who slept through every bit of it.  Yep, Evelyn sure did.  But God forbid a pencil falls off the nightstand onto the carpet in the middle of the night she’s awake and fussy.

I missed this during the week but Unilever (UL) took a stake in Dollar Shave Club which will be interesting to see how things play out.  Unilever didn’t have exposure to the razor market and now they do and they were able to get their claim for a fairly cheap valuation.  This could be trouble for Procter & Gamble (PG) and their Gillette brand.

I’m also doing a lot better with writing than I expected these first few weeks with our daughter at home.  My focus had been lacking after being laid off at the end of April and unfortunately my writing took a backseat for a while.  I was hoping that I would eventually kick myself into gear once the baby came and take full advantage of the free time that she allows me.  *Ugh it’s like I still have a boss except I get paid in poop and pee*  So far so good as I’ve been writing or reading during most of her nap times and I really hope the productivity level stays high.  So be on the lookout for some more stock analyses and some other thoughts on investing.

Also special thanks are owed to Sabeel of Roadmap2Retire and Passive Income Dude for their guest posts this week!

The Devil’s Financial Dictionary by Jason Zweig (affiliate link) is a nice little time killer that gives brutally honest and often humorous definitions of different finance and investing terminology.

Today’s word/definition is:

“Uncertainty, n. – The most fundamental fact about human life and economic activity.  In the real world, uncertainty is ubiquitous; on Wall Street, it is nonexistent.”

On to the Roundup
